With a long strong history in Ontario, Great Northern Battery Systems was born in 1936 as Heart Battery. Providing a wide range of batteries for automotive, commercial, marine and industrial applications Heart Battery grew until in 1958 it was purchased by Harold Fisher and renamed Acme Battery.
Acme Battery continued where Heart Battery left off by providing a wide selection of batteries and related products. By providing top quality products, knowledgeable advice and highly competitive pricing Acme continued to grow and expand becoming a wholesale supplier to many OEM’s, as well as establishing a country wide dealer network.
In 1996 Acme Battery, which was owned by Harold Fisher, decided to change its name to Great Northern Battery Systems. Joined by his children Allessa and Erroll, the Fisher family had continued to grow GNB Systems into one of North America’s largest battery wholesale distributors on a per capita basis.
